In September of 1968, and after careful consideration, the Cone family decided to purchase Brazos River Processing Plant which was located in Chappell Hill, Texas. This business consisted of manufacturing sausage and custom processing of animals. Within a period of time the sausage became very familiar and requests for this product were made in several stores located in the Houston area. Delivery routes were established to transport sausages to these stores. In Sept. of 1982, Brazos River became incorporated and the name of changed to Chappell Hill Sausage Company. During this time, the company continued to make sausage and custom processing of animals. In 1993 it became eminent to build a new facility to keep up with the increasing demands of the different types of sausage products Chappell Hill Sausage was offering. They decided to cease the custom processing operation and include a retail and wholesale outlet.
